About the session

This session is about far more than feeding. Together we will explore what life with a newborn really looks like, helping you feel informed, reassured and ready for those early weeks.

  • Understanding newborn feeding
  • Breastfeeding and combination feeding
  • Responsive feeding
  • Newborn behaviour and normal newborn sleep
  • Feeding positions, including after caesarean birth or epidural
  • What to expect during the first days
  • How partners can help
  • Common feeding challenges and where to access support

Who the session is for

Expectant parents between approximately 27 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. The session supports parents preparing for breastfeeding, combination feeding or exploring their options.

What to expect on the day

Please arrive a few minutes early so you can get settled with a drink before we begin. The session lasts approximately three hours with opportunities to pause, stretch and enjoy refreshments. Questions are encouraged throughout and the session is conversational rather than lecture-based.

Partner or support person

Bring whoever will be supporting you after birth. This could be a partner, husband or wife, birth partner, parent, friend or family member.

What to bring

Just bring yourself and your chosen support person. Everything else is provided. If you would like to make notes, you are welcome to bring a notebook.What to bring
